About Actio IP
Actio IP is a Norwegian company, founded, developed and managed by patent and trademark attorneys.
Actio IP provides IP administrative services for IP professionals. Over the past (x) years we have developed a portal for obtaining cost estimates and for sending filing and renewal instructions. Our platform is accessible to all foreign agents and direct clients to assist in their IP administrative services.
No. Actio IP is an IP administrative services company. We are not a consultancy company and do not give legal advice or prepare patent, trademark or design applications. While we have experienced patent attorneys on our team, the services offered on the ACTIO portal are only administrative, i.e. we administer the formal filing of your PCT national phase patent applications and EP granted patent validations. When the formal filing is completed, you will then correspond and work directly with the selected local agents and charge at your normal rates.
Actio Portal
Our platform is accessible to all IP professionals to assist with.
  • PCT National Phase filings
  • EP Validations
  • Patent annuities
  • Trademark and design renewals
In addition to reducing costs and the administrative burden of organising multiple foreign agents, together with safe and easy filing, the ACTIO portal uses an algorithm which calculates and provides preferred agents with more local filing in return for the work they instruct via the portal.

Over the last ten years, there has been significant change in the IP industry, with many traditional IP firms losing out on national patent filings to specialized IP administrative services companies. Whilst firms can reduce the costs and administrative burden of organising multiple foreign agents, they have lost out when it comes to receiving local patent filings in return.

We recognise the importance of building strong and healthy business relationships and Actio’s business model was to develop and offer IP administrative services based on a reciprocal approach, and which also maintained and ensured consistent quality for IP professionals and their clients.

No, there is no joining or membership fees for preferential agents, regular agents or direct clients wishing to access to the portal.
The portal is flexible and agents can choose whether they want to use the selected preferred agents for only certain filings and continue to use their existing agents for others. There is no obligation or cost to use the preferred agent selected on the portal but these will provide a more cost-effective solution.
All translations are conducted by the local filing agent, i.e. by professional patent agents translating the description and claims into their mother language. When there is an order which includes a number of countries with the same translation requirements, we generally ask one agent to perform the translation and then send it to the other agents. We charge a fixed cost for the additional work incurred for forwarding the translation.
We prefer that you have one administrator on the portal (the user login you have received) that can set your company profile such as for instance your own filing fees when you use the portal for foreign filing. In addition to the administrator you can have several users and these can be set up by your administrator or by our support team.
The selected agent will check whether they have any conflict of interest when they receive a filing order.
Agents
Actio IP has developed and continues to develop an international network of highly qualified and experienced local IP agents who become preferential agents on the portal.
International agents who have a world-class reputation are invited to become preferred agents. We will also be happy to receive recommendations from existing preferred agents.
We select the number of preferred agents based size of local market and the volume of potential business. This is to ensure that there is sufficient volume to maintain the reciprocal model offered by the portal and ensure consistent high quality for IP professionals and their clients.
Agents that are interested in becoming a preferred agent are welcome to apply through the application process. Please contact us for further information about becoming a preferred agent.

Our philosophy is that the prices should be reasonable for both the agents that receives filing orders and for the agents that provide the filing orders. Prices must also be attractive so that we can offer competitively priced products but that must ensure consistent high quality for IP professionals and their clients.

Costs must also be easy to calculate, and the agreed attorney fee must cover all tasks in relation to the filing of the application (i.e. no separate attorney fees for claiming priorities and for patent claims, filing of powers etc.).
